Finally the world has come to its senses! They’ve experienced the sights and sound; they’ve smelled and tasted…now they desire to be TOUCHED! DJ Touch Tone, DJ, on-air personality/ radio and mixer has taken the music industry by storm. Amazingly, he mixes, spins, edits, and produces all without the sense of sight. A true master of his art, he memorizes each of his records and organizes them systematically, to produce the hottest night-show sound the City of Philadelphia and its surrounding regions have come to know, love and crave on 100.3 The Beat. Born Anthony Stevenson in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Touch Tone accredits his ability to mix music to his firm upbringing. Not be able to “move beyond the front step”, he learned how to utilize his gift and passion to entertain himself using his mother’s record player and classic soul records. Ultimately, he perfected the art of mixing and scratching, which led to his present day success in the hip hop community. As his creativity and innovations as the world’s only blind DJ began to flourish, the public demanded more. Not considering his blindness as a handicap, but as a mere “setback”, DJ Touch Tone has an impressive list of credits thus far added to his repertoire. Exposing the world to his unique talent, DJ Touch Tone has appeared on Black Entertainment Television’s (BET) Rap City The Bassment, MTV’s Def Comedy Jam, Philadelphia affiliate stations Fox 29 (Good Day Philadephia) and ABC 6 (Visions). Additionally, DJ Touch Tone has been seen in creditable hip hop magazine such as The Source and XXL. DJ Touch Tone has exhibited his talents from coast to coast, doing parties for noted and prominent celebrities in the entertainment and sports industries such as P. Diddy and Rasheed Wallace, just to name a few. Coupling his national fame and exposure, DJ Touch Tone considers it a privilege and honor to be a DJ in Philadelphia, the very city where he was born and raised. Not taking such a fact for granted, he greatly appreciates his listeners and everyone that has supported his career. Handling success is never easy, especially when there is a setback which disables your process. However, Touch Tone utilizes his blindness as a distinctive characteristic that sets him apart from the rest. With Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Tom Joyner, and Russell Simmons as inspirations, Touch Tone now focuses on the big picture, syndication and an array of other entrepreneurial opportunities. Impossible? Not for this victorious spirit that has already exceeded expectations and overcome limitations. A man with a vision and determination, DJ Touch Tone is truly one of God’s gifts that you have to see to believe. Born and raised a music lover, Touch got his start DJ’ing at the tender age of 13. He spent 4 years DJ’ing in the family basement before he branched out and began DJ’ing at High School parties at 17. Upon graduation from High School, he started DJ’ing in nightclubs. His radio career started in December 1997 when he began DJ’ing on air at WPHI 100.3FM www.1003thebeatphilly.com (then referred to as Philly 103.9). In 2004 he got his big break when Program Director and air personality Colby Colb made him the 10a-3p air talent for WPHI (now referred to as 100.3 The Beat) In the years that have followed he has been recognized by his peers: The Jam Master Jay Achievement Awards, featured in both The Source and XXL magazine and has appeared on BET shows such as Rap City and Planet Groove. He was born blind but to see him DJ and move around you would never know it. He credits his inspirations Kid Capri, Funkmaster Flex, Jazzy Jeff, Cash Money, and his boss Colby Colb for keeping him focused and motivated. DJ Touchtone Inc., is managed by Mr All Business (A B) and the crew of Celeb, Chazz and Showtime.

Selina Carrera is a prolific, stylistic vocalist, growing in her art, not only as a performer but as a recording artist. Carrera’s distinctive sound is a blend of Latin jazz and hip-hop, vocally. A futuristic lyricist too complex to be classified as a rapper, she fits under the title of MC, and is also a spoken-word poet.

Like most great vocalists, Carrera began singing in her church choir at the age of seven, and has been professionally trained since the age of nine. Carrera’s main musical influences are samba, salsa, jazz, funk, and hip-hop. A Philadelphia native, Carrera was both a student at the Girard Academic Music Program and a vocal major at the Creative and Performing Arts High School. A gifted scholar, she started writing and performing poetry at the age of thirteen in the tri-state area.

After graduating in 2004, Carrera continued her studies at Penn State University, majoring in communications. Finding that West Chester University was a better fit for her, Carrera transferred there after two years at PSU, where she currently majors in creative writing and music.

Recently, her hard work has been recognized not only locally, but also around the country. Once Carrera was acknowledged by Chris Schwartz, co-founder of the renowned independent label, RuffHouse Records, Carrera’s career started to grow more and more. RuffHouse was responsible for fostering such acts as Kriss Kross, Nas and The Fugees.

Carrera is now hard at work producing her debut album, humbled by having the privilege to work along the sides of gifted musicians, scholars and pure artists. The song putting Carrera on the map, ‘Energy’ was produced none other than Rick Friedrich of PorkFriedProductions. After encountering an intimate musical connection with Rick, Carrera had the honor of working with fellow passionate musicians, such as sax player Jay Davidson, trumpet player Steve Tirpak, the legendary percussionist Doc Gibbs, piano players Eric Wortham and Jon Smith, the most memorable bass player ‘Rah the Sun God’, drummer Theron Reed, and Grammy award winner Phil Niccolo amongst many other amazing musicians and artist.

In her hometown of Philadelphia, Carrera has performed with fellow remarkable local artist such as, Brinae Ali, Akilles, Tu Phace, Dice Raw of The Legendary Roots Crew, John F., Nikki Jean, Bahamadia, Hezekiah, Ms. Wise, Alabaster, Jus Greg, London’s own Indigo Brown, and many other talented artists.

Growing up in the nineties, a time when music, predominantly hip-hop, was in its prime, Carrera has always been surrounded by artistry of various sorts. She was constantly on the underground scene amongst B-Boys/Girls, graffiti artists, musicians—young and old—DJs, and of course sneakers (she is an avid sneaker collector). Carrera is a strong believer in the legacies we leave behind, which is why she has dedicated her life to be remembered as an up-lifting, positive, remarkably wise individual. It is destined that she will be amongst the most Legendary artist of all time.

Who is Renee Russell? The answer is so complex. Renee Russell is deep. That’s a deep question. I am a sister, a daughter. I consider myself to be a pre-mother. Anything I have I honor it. I am a girlfriend, a cousin, a professional, I am a music artists, Singer, songwriter and an entertainer. I consider myself to be abstract piece of art. One of those paintings that you look at, but you can’t really define what the painting means. You have to figure it out. It moves you and you can feel the energy in it. Like abstract art, you see different colors splashed everywhere, but you have no choice but to determine that it is a good piece of art. I am an abstract musician. There is always more to it than you think.

I don’t have something to sell. I’m just being myself. I’m being real. I don’t have a pitch. I don’t feel that I have to twist a story around or add a little spice to who I am . I think that I am already naturally spicy. People can relate to my personality and who I am as a person because of that. I’m not skinny, a run way model, nor do I fit the typical prototype, but I love me like never before. I’m just around the way Renee baby!

Renee on her new release: “I’m feeling much more bold, free. In many ways, it’s closer to my first album. My original concept was to show how different women think and feel– you know, like the housekeeper, the school girl the business woman etc… – as I started writing and recording, I started taking on all these characters in the booth. I put myself in each woman’s place… and found that it became more about me, all of it; expressing myself with the envy, the anger, the frustration, the loneliness, the joy, the passion and the rapture….everything…and that’s what makes it juicy… Juicy, indeed.

I like to think that my music “is what it is”. What comes out on the microphone is what it’s supposed to be. I don’t like to spend too much time trying to figure out what the song is supposed to be. I write and let the words come out naturally. I don’t stand for creating and making the music but the music creating itself. That’s when you hear songs sound so fluent. When you don’t try to make it pop…It just comes out that way. If I spend lots of time on it struggling then I am trying to make something happen. I want everything to take place at its own natural place. If it’s not poppin I don’t try to make it pop. When the track comes on the words just flow and come right out. It takes no time to finish it. I use personal life experiences to write. If it’s something that is real you don’t have to sit and think about it.
